Akamai Enterprise Business Unit is looking for a creative, detail-oriented problem-solver to plan, communicate, execute, and drive projects within the Cloud Security Product Line as well as coordinating cross-functional efforts across multiple products and operational groups within Akamai. The person assuming this role will work directly with the senior managers of the BU and support the needs of both local and remote teams.
About the Team
Akamai’s Enterprise & Carrier Division is a dynamic new business unit responsible for developing and selling CDN and DNS products for network service providers (Telcos, ISPs, MSOs). These products include both licensed and managed offerings, sold under Akamai’s Aura and AnswerX brands, for multiple use cases including multi-screen video delivery, retail CDN and network offload. The division consists of business development, engineering, product management and support, and works closely with several other groups within Akamai and external partners.
•Drive product-centric core teams, partnering closely with cross-functional teams of Engineering, Product Management, Network Operations, Sales, Services, and Support to define, develop, and deploy product roadmap solutions that meet customer needs
•Use project management methodologies and best practices to ensure the successful delivery of products, projects, and releases
•Participate in, refine, and materially lead the Product Process for various products and solutions, including leadership of the full software development lifecycle and release process for various development teams and software releases
•Participate in internal projects that help scale the group, implement best practices, and improve methodologies
•Identify areas of risk and opportunity, manage conflicts, and collaboratively create mutually acceptable solutions.
•Support the advancement of the Program Management profession within Akamai
•Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related equivalent degree
•5 years experience as a software program manager/project manager
•Have an understanding of the software development cycle and technical understanding
•Strong collaboration skills and ability to interface and collaborate with multiple teams and functions (engineering, QA, release management, network operations, product management, professional services, etc.)
•Demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership to drive projects to completion
•Experience managing complex programs across teams and geographies
•Strong organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to drive the day-to-day activities of internal resources
•Action oriented, capable of multitasking well, and able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
•Hands-on technical experience is a strong plus
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
•Experience with the JIRA toolset is a plus
•Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new technologies
