Senior Technical writer
Ravello ( recently acquired by Oracle) is looking for a Senior Technical writer.
You will be directly contributing to the success of this cutting edge cloud product in an environment that maintains a startup philosophy but backed by one of the world’s most successful and innovative software companies.
In this role you will
Develop documentation (user guides, technical reference manuals, KB articles, getting started guides, etc.) to help our customers quickly start using Ravello’s products. As a technical writer, you will be working closely with software engineers, support engineers and product managers to develop product & support content for offline and online use. You will work with to define gaps in existing content, and develop and implement a plan to execute. You will attend planning and/or coordination meetings to assess customer requirements and define appropriate content solutions.
Generate product documentation from scratch by understanding product workflows, interfacing with SMEs, or from engineering specifications, and determine appropriate format, structure, syntax, and style. You will get the chance to work with remote teams in different time zones.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
Proven experience in in writing for IT products, especially networking and/or virtualization
Minimum 2 year(s) writing, and publishing technical documentation for software products.
Minimum 1 year(s) experience using standard authoring tools and/or technologies.
Possess an engineering degree with excellent English skills, or degree or higher in English, technical writing, technical communications, or a related field.
Quick and self-learner with great communication skills and passion for technology
Needs to be acquainted with git and swagger
HTML/CSS authoring experience (web documentation) - an advantage.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter. Review technical information prepared by other staff members for clarity and content. Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
