Global Risk and Data Sciences (GRDS) is the largest group in PayPal’s Risk Management organization. The team is comprised of data researchers, analysts, modelers, and software engineers; and is uniquely focused on developing models, components and technology to aid in detecting and preventing all forms of fraud and risk affecting the PayPal $240B payments network.
The Risk Data Acquisition team focuses on applicative research, analysis and development of innovative solutions for Risk decision systems, specifically in the areas of cyber-crime and sophisticated fraud. We focus on analyzing technical data such as network traffic and device information, and find leads and traces of technology-based fraud activity such as scripting attacks, malwares and IP obfuscation.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Apply data and technological expertise in the cyber space to real life problems in PayPal’s echo system
Analyzing multiple types of data and reaching actionable conclusions
Independent research and innovation in the technology and data spaces, while supporting existing projects
Broaden the analytic playing field by using a wide range of research tools and methods and applying scientific knowledge where relevant
The role encompasses acquisition and application of vast knowledge areas over a short period of time and requires a strong sense of personal responsibility
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or similar. Average 85 and above from top universities.
1-2 years of related work experience
Strong analytical skills
Code writing capability in any programming language (Python, R, Java, Scala, etc.)
Familiarity with the cyber-crime domain and understanding common attack methods
Experience in network protocols and deep-packet inspection (DPI) – an advantage
Experience in Big Data analysis – an advantage
Experience in Machine-Learning, Data Mining or Statistics – an advantage
Excellent spoken and written English
