Job Title Data Scientist

The data scientist will perform statistical analysis, data modeling, clustering and predictive analysis. You’ll work very closely with a host of business stakeholders, helping them translate their questions into research projects, carrying out the research, presenting the results and making recommendations to improve the business. You’ll need to leverage your statistical expertise, build sophisticated models and utilize any tool necessary to help derive new insights. You will be working with various data sets alongside other data scientists to create complete and holistic analyses. Focusing on the impact made, you’ll work in a fast paced environment, supporting multiple departments and executives in the company.

Requirements Requirements

  • Excellent analytical skills, with 3+ years of working experience in business analytics

  • Experience with R or python

  • Exemplary oral and writing communication skills with a demonstrated track record of effectively presenting to technical & non-technical audiences in English.

  • Experience using machine learning algorithms: predictive modeling, clustering, multivariate regression, logistic regression, time series analysis and other statistical analysis techniques. Prior experience of implementing this knowledge in a business environment.

  • Experience working with large datasets , data processing and querying methods in relational databases

  • Can work independently given abstract tasks, understand the business relevance and provide recommendations based on the data.

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar (MSc/MA/PhD preferred).

  • Availability to work late evenings (up to 7-9 PM) to collaborate with US west coast counterparts

  • Up to 10% international travel.

  • Israeli Citizenship or existing valid work permit in Israel

Preferences Preferences

  • Experience with B2C, especially recurring monthly revenue business

  • Working experience with Tableau and ETL tools such as Alteryx, Pentaho or Informatica

  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Impala, Hadoop, Spark)

ViaSat’s Israel Data Science center works on improving our broadband services and focuses on gaining the understanding of end user behaviors for all businesses including residential, small & medium business and mobile services. The team engages in statistical analysis to better understand our customers, gain insight into what drives their satisfaction and find ways to can continuously increase the customer experience. By designing experiments, building advanced models and testing different hypothesis in the field, the team is able to make recommendations spanning across multiple departments to improve our business processes and add value.
